This invention provides a data storage device and a television receiver, which are configured for storing data in a volatile memory, are easy for a user to use, and make it possible to reduce power consumption in the power OFF mode. The television receiver (1) is configured to enable a power supply controller (25) to individually turn the power supply ON and OFF to a plurality of memory modules included in a RAM (23). A controller (19) decides whether or not data stored in the RAM (23) is reacquirable, sets the power supply for a memory module storing non-reacquirable data to the ON state, and sets the power supply for a memory module not storing non-reacquirable data to the OFF state. The controller (19) also deletes reacquirable data stored in the RAM (23) and reallocates the non-reacquirable data.
