PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic oxygen cell which has superior charge/discharge capacity and cycle performance.SOLUTION: A metallic oxygen cell 1 comprises: a positive electrode 2 which includes an oxygen storage material and uses oxygen as an active material; a negative electrode 3 which uses metal as an active material; an electrolyte layer 4 which is disposed between the positive electrode 2 and the negative electrode 3; and a case 5 which seals and accommodates the positive electrode 2, the negative electrode 3, and the electrolyte layer 4. The oxygen storage material, when being discharged, ionizes and emits the stored oxygen to react with metal ion penetrated from the negative electrode 3 through the electrolyte layer 4 to the positive electrode 2 so that metal oxide is generated. The oxygen storage material, when being charged, reduces the metal oxide to store oxygen. The metal oxide generated in discharging includes amorphous. |
