PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing tin from molten iron, capable of achieving efficient removal of tin from the molten iron melted by carburizing iron scrap or molten iron produced by melting the iron scrap, when manufacturing a steel product using the iron scrap as an iron source.SOLUTION: A method for removing tin from molten iron comprises, while stirring the molten iron containing ≥0.04 mass% of sulfur in an atmosphere under a pressure reduced from an atmospheric pressure, supplying ammonia gas to the molten iron so as to remove tin contained in the molten iron. In this case, it is preferable that the carbon content in the molten iron is ≥2.0 mass% and the stirring power density applied to the molten iron is ≥60W per ton of the molten iron. |
