PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize a combination of values of four primary colors in consideration of a display performance such as power consumption in a self-luminous type display device and a visual field angle characteristic in a non-self-luminous type display device, in a display device coping with four-primary-color display.SOLUTION: The display device of the present invention displays a video image indicated by input video signals by pixels comprising four primary colors having at least one sub-pixel for each primary color. When expressing pixel colors of pixel signals in the input video signals, the display device expresses at least one pixel color off a boundary of a color gamut that can be expressed by the display device in brightness smaller than prescribed brightness determined according to the color gamut by using only three primary colors out of the four primary colors. For instance, when the four primary colors are red, green blue, and yellow, even off the boundary of the color gamut, a set of green, blue, and yellow or a set of red, blue, and yellow is used to express the pixel color according to chromaticity indicated by the pixel signals. |
