PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell having a catalyst layer without cracks and with uniform thickness.SOLUTION: A fuel cell comprises: an electrolyte membrane 4; an anode catalyst layer 5 and an anode gas diffusion layer 6 provided on one surface of the electrolyte membrane 4; and a cathode catalyst layer 7 and a cathode gas diffusion layer 8 provided on the other surface of the electrolyte membrane 4. Pressure losses of the anode catalyst layer 5 and/or the cathode catalyst layer 7 are larger than that of a base material for forming the anode catalyst layer and/or the cathode catalyst layer.
