PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network relay device which can suppress degradation of throughput at the time of congestion detection, and a packet transfer control method.SOLUTION: A network relay device includes: a congestion detection section 2 for detecting congestion; a congestion notification section 3 for adding, when a buffer quantity of a port or a queue which has detected the congestion is larger than a predetermined mark starting quantity, congestion detection information to a header of a packet to be transferred from the port or the queue, at the mark rate in accordance with buffer quantity; and a mark rate adjustment section 4 for decreasing the mark starting quantity when a packet loss occurs in the port or the queue which has detected the congestion or when the buffer quantity of the port or the queue which has detected the congestion exceeds a predetermined upper limit threshold value, and for increasing the mark starting quantity when no packet loss occurs in the port or the queue which has detected the congestion or when the buffer quantity of the port or the queue which has detected the congestion is below the upper limit threshold value. |
