PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent moire from being generated due to a difference between a pixel pitch of image data read by image reading means and a dot pitch of an image to be read, when the image reading means having a plurality of read elements arranged thereon reads an image having a screen structure.SOLUTION: When an image formed on the basis of binary image data generated by screen processing from multiple-value data formed of pixels having the same density value is read by a plurality of read elements arranged in a main-scanning direction, read cycles or read frequencies of the read elements are controlled so as to satisfy the following expression: main-scanning structure one-turn width×N=sub-scanning direction read width×M, wherein the main-scanning structure one-turn with represents a width for one turn in a sub-scanning direction of a position in a main-scanning direction of a dot of an image formed on the basis of binary image data, the sub-scanning direction read width represents a read width in the sub-scanning direction corresponding to one read cycle, and N and M represent integers of one or more. |
