The disclosure of the present description provides a method for detecting a target nucleic acid, which is effective for reducing the time required for a hybridization step for detecting a target nucleic acid such as a specific genome and determining the sequence for the target nucleic acid and is also effective for reducing the non-specific binding of a nucleic acid that is obtained from a specific genome and is labeled to a DNA microarray. To achieve this purpose, the disclosure of the present description comprises: a step of providing a solid body provided with a detection probe having a specified nucleotide sequence; a step of providing a signal-attached target nucleic acid having a signal generation site for detecting the target nucleic acid; a step of bringing the signal-attached target nucleic acid, the detection probe and an intermediating agent that is an oligonucleotide provided with a first site capable of hybridizing specifically with the target nucleic acid and a second site capable of hybridizing specifically with a specific nucleotide sequence contained in the detection probe (wherein the second site is composed of preferably 20 to 50 nucleotides inclusive, more preferably 20 to 25 nucleotides inclusive) into contact with one another so that a hybridization product of these components can be formed; and a step of obtaining information on the basis of the signal generation site in the signal-attached target nucleic acid on the solid body. |
