The guide rail (1) has guide tracks (4) formed along the guide rail, and clamping surfaces (7) for clamping the guide rail on a rail support. The clamping surface are provided with clamping legs (6) articulated by support bearings (15), where a toggle lever (9) is arranged for spreading the clamping legs. The rail support includes a base (18) having a positioning plane (E) from which an actuating portion (17) of a knee joint (12) projects in a mounting position of the guide rail, where the positioning plane is located between the actuating portion and the support bearings. An independent claim is also included for a linear guide.
