The machine (100) has a carbon brush holder device (50) comprising multiple brush holder units (51) for retaining and/or guiding of carbon brush conductors (52). One of the brush holder units is formed with two interacting brush holder parts that are connected together for axial securing of the carbon brush conductors. The brush holder parts are formed in an equal and/or mirror-symmetrical manner and comprise flange units such that an axial stop for axial securing of the carbon brush conductors and an orientation of the brush holder parts are realized. The flange unit is designed as an annular plate. The carbon brush conductors are designed as charcoal brushes or commutator brushes. An independent claim is also included for method for manufacturing an electric machine.
