A method for preparing polyketone is provided to realize improved catalytic activity and intrinsic viscosity, to reduce the melting point of the resultant polyketone, thereby improving the processability, and to obtain polyketone suitable for tire cords. A method for preparing polyketone comprises a step of terpolymerizing carbon monoxide, an ethylenically unsaturated compound and propylenically unsaturated compound in the presence of a catalyst in a liquid medium, wherein the catalyst is an organometal complex containing (a) a group 9, 10 or 11 transition metal compound, and (b) a group 15 element-containing ligand having a metallocene structure, the liquid medium is a mixed solvent comprising 30-60 vol% of formic acid and 40-70 vol% of water, the ethylenically unsaturated compound and carbon monoxide are introduced in a molar ratio of 1:1, and the propylenically unsaturated compound is introduced in an amount corresponding to 1-20 mol% based on the total gas mixture containing carbon monoxide, an ethylenically unsaturated compound and propylenically unsaturated compound. |
