PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide antibodies against the &bgr;-secretase cleavage site of amyloid precursor protein (A&bgr;PP) and use thereof in a method for inhibiting the formation of amyloid &bgr;.SOLUTION: There are provided an immunizing composition containing an antigenic product such as a multiple antigen peptide system (MAPS) or a filamentous bacteriophage displaying an A&bgr;PP epitope spanning the &bgr;-secretase cleavage site of A&bgr;PP and a method for inducing an immune response against the &bgr;-secretase cleavage site of A&bgr;PP using this immunizing composition.
