PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate disturbance with a strong air flow in a combustion chamber in accordance with an operation state of an internal combustion engine, promote mixing of fuel and air, reduce a combustion period, and promote improvement in fuel economy, while reducing the quantity of black smoke discharged.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes a combustion chamber 150 surrounded by a top surface of a piston 120 of the internal combustion engine 100, an under surface of a cylinder head 110, and an inner wall of a cylinder liner 140 for slidably storing the piston 120. The internal combustion engine includes: a fuel injection nozzle 161 installed in the cylinder head 110 and injecting fuel toward the combustion chamber 150 from the under surface of the cylinder head 110; an air chamber 200 arranged on the outer periphery of the fuel injection nozzle 161; and a communicating part (an orifice part) 210 for connecting the air chamber 200 with the combustion chamber 150. The volume of the air chamber is variable. |
