Abstract A tensioning assembly for applying tension to a cable bolt 5 having a cable barrel and cable wedge assembly located thereon, the tensioning assembly comprising a piston adapted to engage the cable bolt the tensioning assembly being moveable to adopt a tensioning configuration in which tension is placed on the cable bolt and a releasing 10 configuration, the tensioning assembly comprising a chase element for bearing upon the cable wedge when the tensioning assembly is in the tensioning configuration and a release element for effecting release of the cable bolt from the piston when the tensioning assembly is in the 15 release configuration, the chase element and release element being integral to one another.
