PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic nanoparticle fixed type osmium tetroxide with little leaching of osmium at dihydroxylation reaction of olefin, wherein osmium tetroxide active species are strongly fixed.SOLUTION: In a magnetic nanoparticle fixed type osmium tetroxide, an osmium tetroxide shown by general formula (I) (in the formula, Rdenotes a 1-4C alkyl group; s is any one of an integer 1-6; and either of u and v is 1, either of the same is 0) has a structure to be fixed in a magnetic nanoparticle by replacing at least one of three R-O- groups bonding to Si in the general formula with an oxygen atom in the magnetic nanoparticle.
