An apparatus configured to heat smokable material to volatilize at least one component of the smokable material, comprising: a heater located remotely from a smokable material heating region; and a heat conducting element, wherein the heat conducting element is configured to conduct heat from the heater into the smokable material heating region to heat smokable material. A method of heating smokable material is also described.
