The method involves determining specific humidity of air based on relative humidity of air measured by a humidity sensor (150) in an intake system of a vehicle. Another specific humidity of the air is set based on a comparison of a mass air flow rate (MAF) in an engine (102) and a predetermined flow rate identical to the former specific humidity or predetermined specific humidity. An operating parameter of the engine is controlled based on the latter specific humidity. A filter is applied to the latter specific humidity to obtain third specific humidity of air.
