PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power generation system and a method for controlling the system, capable of controlling an output of a power generator to follow an increase in a requested generator output when a completely pressure-varied operation mode is employed in which an opening degree of a steam control valve is maintained in a full-open state.SOLUTION: A system control device in a power generation system includes: a main steam pressure setting unit 20b for setting a main steam pressure command according to a requested generator output; and a boiler control unit for controlling a boiler on the basis of the main steam pressure command set by the main steam pressure setting unit 20b. When a load increase request signal for increasing the requested generator output is input, the main steam pressure setting unit 20b, after a prescribed time passes from the input of the load increase request signal, adds a correction amount determined in accordance with a deviation between an actual output and the requested generator output MWD, to the requested generator output MWD. Then the main steam pressure setting unit 20b sets a main steam pressure command by using the requested generator output MWD after the addition. |
