PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of highly accurately detecting droplet discharge when detecting discharge or non-discharge of liquid droplets using a droplet discharge detection device and using laser light.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus drives a pressure generation means corresponding to a nozzle with spaces so that a plurality of liquid droplets 300 discharged from one nozzle into a luminous flux of a laser light 200 simultaneously exist when a photodiode receives scattered light generated by the liquid droplets 300 by ejecting the laser light 200 from a laser diode, and a receiving light output performs liquid droplet detection operation for discriminating a discharge state. |
