The present invention concerns methods and compositions comprising an effective amount of one or more small molecule azoaryl NS2B-NS3 protease inhibitors. The methods and compositions can be used under conditions that prevent or treat a flavivirus infection, such as infections caused by dengue virus and West Nile virus in a subject.
