The embodiments provide a method for power-off alarm and an power gateway, the method for power-off alarm comprising: when the power gateway is power off and a standby electric power is started to supply, the power gateway sends alarm information to a server; the power gateway times with an duration; if the power gateway does not receive alarm response information sent by the server in the duration, it returns to the step that the power gateway sends alarm information to the server, hence the power gateway sends alarm information again in the condition that alarm response information is not received in the duration, and it prevents the situation that the alarm information is continually sent for several times but can not reach the server, and it raises the success rate of sending alarm information.
