METHOD FOR PRODUCING D-LACTIC ACID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bacterium capable of producing D-lactic acid using carbon dioxide as only one carbon source; and a method for producing D-lactic acid from carbon dioxide using the bacterium.SOLUTION: This bacterium capable of producing D-lactic acid is obtained by introduction or enhancement of expression of a polynucleotide encoding D-lactate dehydrogenase and a polynucleotide encoding a protein related to inorganic carbon fixation and/or a protein related to transport and concentration of inorganic carbon to a hydrogen-oxidizing bacterium. The method for producing D-lactic acid includes culturing the bacterium using carbon dioxide as only one carbon source.
