The rotary damper is provided with: a shaft having a hollow part in the interior; a pair of side panels axially supporting the shaft in rotatable fashion; a case furnished between the pair of side panels, for defining an operation chamber in the interior; vanes furnished to the shaft, and having distal edges for sliding along the inside periphery of the case, dividing the operation chamber into a first chamber and another chamber; a liquid chamber defined in the interior of the hollow part; a first partition wall and a second partition wall housed within the hollow part, for defining a second liquid chamber therebetween; a first-side valve chamber defined by the first partition wall and communicating with the first chamber; an other-side valve chamber defined by the second partition wall and communicating with the other chamber; a first-side port for communication between the first-side valve chamber and the second liquid chamber; an other-side port for communication between the other-side valve chamber and the second liquid chamber; a first-side damping valve capable of opening and closing the first-side port; and an other-side port capable of opening and closing the other-side port. |
