The present invention provides an apparatus configured to operate as a Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) attesting entity. The apparatus comprises a transmitter configured to send a SAML assertion to a relying party during a Transport Layer Security (TLS) handshake performed between the attesting entity and the relying party. The present invention also provides an apparatus configured to operate as a SAML relying party. The apparatus comprises a receiver configured to receive a SAML assertion from an attesting entity during a TLS handshake performed between the attesting entity and the relying party.
