PURPOSE: A signal conversion device and method with an automatic DR(dynamic range) function are provided to efficiently control an operation range of signal conversion according to the range of an inputted signal by adaptively controlling the operation range of the signal conversion. CONSTITUTION: A light emitting device(100) includes a light emitting element(120). A light emitting controller(110) controls a light amount of the light emitting element. A current-voltage converter(200) measures the intensity of light from the light emitting element. An optical sensor(210) outputs a current signal with a size corresponding to the intensity of the light. An automatic DR controller(220) controls an operation range of a current buffer(230). A first converter converts a first signal into a second signal. A second converter converts the second signal into a third signal. A controller controls an operation range of the first conversion.
