<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support member preventing a cylinder member from sticking with a reduced cost, while maintaining the seal performance of a seal member over a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The support member is provided with the cylinder member 20 having therein a shaft hole 22 and a recess 23 for the seal member. The cylinder member 20 is made of plastic. The recess 23 for the seal member is open toward one end surface 20a so as to allow the seal member 32 to be inserted to the recess 23 for the seal member from the one end surface 20a. The support member is provided with an annular cap member 21 inserted from the one end surface 20a of the cylinder member 20 toward the recess 23 for the seal member in the state where the seal member 32 has been inserted to the recess 23 for the seal member.
