The use of near field communication (NFC) tags, e.g. RFID tags, to identify assets, e.g. a boiler, compressor or brake block, in an engineering enterprise, commercial or household environment and then, using this identification, display information (such as outstanding tasks) on a mobile or handheld device, the information preferably being retrieved from a back office database.
