Method and device for controlling the selectivity of electric equipment

The method involves communicating electric equipment settings between electrical appliances e.g. circuit breakers (10, 11), power measurement modules (13) and short-circuit detectors (14), and a processing module (1). Selectivity of the electrical appliance is computed according to the electric equipment settings. Data representative of selectivity settings is stored and communicated. Changes of settings and/or changes of the appliances are monitored. Compatibility between recent settings after a change and the selectivity computation is checked. The electrical appliances are one of differential or earth leakage detection modules or relays (12). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for controlling selectivity of an electric equipment (2) an electric installation.
