The method involves providing main dewatering portion and emergency dewatering portion. The main dewatering portion is arranged into a collection channel (7) by a connecting line (6). The connecting line is provided with an inlet opening (5), above which water-impermeable roof area (3) accumulated with water (4) is provided. The line portion (14) is formed with the collecting channel. The idle cross-section of the inlet opening is reduced by the air duct (13) so as to prevent damming up of water into the line portion of the connecting line. An independent claim is included for roof dewatering device.
