PURPOSE: A sealed battery is provided to authentically open an opening groove according to the inner pressure of a battery case when the size of the battery case and the thickness of a plate are different from each other by forming the opening groove on the side of the battery case. CONSTITUTION: A sealed battery includes a battery case in which an electrode body and electrolyte are sealed; and an opening groove for forming an opening line on the sides of the battery case. The opening line consists of a first curvature portion curved from the normal direction in a protrusion shape and a second curvature portion curved in a direction which forms 90 degrees or more to the protruding direction of the first curvature portion. The opening groove has a depth which makes the thickness ratio of residual parts to the plate thickness be 75% or less.
