The invention provides an anti-VEGF immunoglobulin single variable domain comprising an amino acid sequence that is identical to the amino acid sequence of DOM15-26-593 or differs from the amino acid sequence of DOM15-26-593 at 1 or 2 amino acid positions. The domain is resistant to degradation by a protease, can be used in pharmaceutical compositions and in the preparation of medicament for treating or preventing cancer, inflammation, autoimmune disease, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), VEGF mediated condition or disease, COPD, and pneumonia. The invention further relates to a nucleic acid encoding an anti-VEGF immunoglobulin single variable domain, vector comprising the nucleic acid and host cell.
