<p>An apparatus for cleaning a filter 9 has a housing 3, as well as a spindle in the housing 7, a threaded carrier, on which a filter can be applied, on the spindle. The carrier is rotatable around the spindle and thereby moves along the spindle. The 5 apparatus further has a knob 11 which is provided with a connecting piece 13 for a water hose. In the extension of the connecting piece there is present a spray nozzle. The water jet 27, 29 leaving the nozzle is directed on the filter 9 next to the spindle 7. The turning knob 11 is rotatable between a first position A, in which the orifice 23 is directed next to the spindle 7, as seen in the axial direction of the spindle, 10 and a second position B in which the orifice, on the other side of the spindle, is directed next to the spindle, as seen in the axial direction of the spindle.
