[Class 126] The ported valve for selectively supplying air to the grate of a domestic fire and/or to a heating chamber around the main flue described in Specification 615,449, is incorporated in a backt o - b a c k combination cooking and sitting-room stove, arrangements being provided for controlling the valve from a room on the same floor as the stove or from a room on a floor above. As shown, the valve 2, which controls the passage of air to the grate 1 or to a flue 5 leading to a heating chamber surrounding the chimney 40, is operated by a handle 20, Fig. 6, arranged at the top of the stove in the sitting-room and connected to the valve by a linkage system 21, 23, there being incorporated in the latter a rod 24 extending into the room above to permit control from upstairs. A handle 25 on the opposite side of the stove serves to operate means for regulating the supply of warm air to a downstairs or upstairs room and has a supplementary arm 26 which can be operated from the room above by a rod 27. The sitting-room fireplace is fitted with a damper 4 interconnected with the valve 2 and serving to regulate the passage of the hot gases to a flue behind a boiler 3. The cooking arrangements which face the kitchen comprise, as shown in Fig. 2, a main oven 6 to which the gases pass by a flue 7, hotplates 8, 9, a slow oven 12 above the oven 6, plate-warming compartments 10, 15, an airing cupboard 16 and a fuel locker 19. The fire space may be closed by a sliding panel 35 having a window 36, a reflector 37 being provided to reflect heat into the room when the panel is closed. Warm air passing up the flue 5 may be diverted to a conduit 39 leading to the room above by a valve 38. |
