PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible and strong stent which has extremely little contact or no contact among structural members in crimping the stent before insertion into a body.SOLUTION: A stent design reduces the likelihood of contact among structural members when a stent diameter is reduced before insertion into a body. In one approach, an undulating link 54 has a J-shaped profile or has an angled portion on one side at a peak part 56 of the link in order to reduce the contact during crimping. The stent 30 also has structural characteristics to improve such aspects as flexibility, coatability of a medical substance on the stent, a reduction in flare-like expansion, stent retention inside the body, and/or a reduction in a minimum diameter of the stent during crimping. |
