PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polymerizable compositions that can be used as dental materials suitable for use in the oral environment, and methods of using such compositions.SOLUTION: There are provided polymerizable compositions including an ethylenically unsaturated compound, a dental additive, and an initiator system including an arylsulfinate salt having an anion of formula I and a cation having a positively charged nitrogen atom or a positively charged phosphorus atom. The polymerizable compositions are useful as dental materials.
