PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a surface protective film which can provide a film slightly adhesive on one side, hardly causing blocking when the film is rolled or stacked, and having little fisheyes.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing a surface protective film. The method for manufacturing the surface protective film having a thickness of 25-100 μm includes: a step (step 1) of obtaining a thermoplastic resin molten film by performing melt extrusion on thermoplastic resin from a T die; a step (step 2) of pinching the thermoplastic resin molten film with a metallic cooling roll meeting both of the following requirement (1) and requirement (2) and an elastic roll meeting both of the following requirement (3) and requirement (4) while making adjustments meeting the following requirement condition (5) during the pinching; and a step (step 3) of winding the film.
