摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white LED which does not require such a significant white balance adjustment as could lead to reduction in display luminance on a liquid crystal panel and which is selected so that a chromaticity variation on panel display fits within a desired range.SOLUTION: When the chromaticity of the primary light of a combinatorial LED composed of an LED element emitting primary light and a phosphor excited by the primary light to emit secondary light greater in wavelength than the primary light is within a predetermined range, an LED classification device (21) classifies the LED as the one which is to be used for the backlight of a liquid crystal display device. A coefficient calculation unit (26) and a correction chromaticity calculation unit (27) calculate for all of LEDs to be classified a correction value for the chromaticity obtained by assuming that the primary light has transmitted the color filter of the liquid crystal display device, and subtract the correction value from obtained chromaticity individually for all of LEDs to be classified to correct the chromaticity. A chromaticity rank classification unit (28) classifies the LED by chromaticity rank on the basis of the corrected chromaticity.
