PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an optical fiber preform capable of obtaining easily an optical fiber preform capable of producing, with a small loss, a long multi-core optical fiber having a plurality of cores in an optical fiber cross section.SOLUTION: A plurality of cylindrical mandrels or quartz tubes or cylindrical porous preforms are arranged corresponding to each core part of an optical fiber preform, and glass particles are deposited on the mandrels/quartz tubes/porous preforms, based on a VAD method, OVD method, MCVD method, PCVD method, and combinations thereof. |
