PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing xylylenediamine economically in a high yield, when producing xylylenediamine by hydrogenating dicyanobenzene obtained by ammoxidation of xylene.SOLUTION: In a method for producing xylylenediamine by hydrogenating in the presence of a solvent, molten dicyanobenzene obtained by distillation separation of a low-boiling point compound together with an organic solvent from dicyanobenzene absorption liquid obtained by the contact of ammoxidation reaction gas with the organic solvent, deterioration of dicyanobenzene can be suppressed and the yield of xylylenediamine can be kept high, by mixing the molten dicyanobenzene obtained after distillation separation with the solvent under a specific condition.
