PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve memory management efficiency.SOLUTION: An electronic device comprises: a memory allocation/deallocation unit 211 which allocates and deallocates memory areas in a memory space; a compaction execution unit 212 which performs a reorganization process to make a continuous free space within the memory space by moving allocated memory areas; and a compaction assessment unit 213 for executing an assessment process which computes the size of a continuous free space that can be made available in the memory space by executing the reorganization process when a continuous free space that is equal to or larger than the memory area to be allocated is unavailable in the memory space, and assesses whether or not the size of the computed continuous free space is equal to or larger than the size of the memory area to be allocated. The compaction assessment unit 213 causes the compaction execution unit 212 to execute the reorganization process if the size of the computed continuous free space is determined to be equal to or larger than the size of the memory area to be allocated in the assessment process, and doses not allow execution of the reorganization process otherwise. |
