PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing an L-amino acid from ethanol as a starting material using a bacterium belonging to the family Enterobacteriaceae, and to also provide a bacterium used in the method.SOLUTION: In a method for producing an L-amino acid in which a bacterium belonging to the family Enterobacteriaceae capable of producing an L-amino acid is cultured in a medium containing ethanol and the L-amino acid is recovered from the medium, a bacterium modified such that the activity of AldB protein is reduced, preferably a bacterium further modified such that the activity of AdhE protein is enhanced, is used. |
