PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for acquiring program guide information using a video signal receiving apparatus, and to provide a program guide method and apparatus using the same.SOLUTION: The program guide apparatus includes: a tuner 50 for selecting a channel; a program guide information detecting unit 54 for extracting program guide information; a memory unit 56 for storing program guide information for each channel detected by the program guide information detecting unit 54; a key input unit 58 for receiving user operation commands; a microprocessor 60 programmed to generate a program list based on the program guide information in response to a command and to control the tuner 50 to search for an accessible channel; and a character signal generating unit 62 for generating a character signal corresponding to the program list generated by the microprocessor 60, to be provided to a screen.
