This liquid crystal display device is characterized by being provided with: a first substrate and a second substrate positioned such that the main surfaces thereof face each other; a liquid crystal layer positioned between the first substrate and the second substrate; a plurality of gate wirings positioned on the main surface of the second substrate; a plurality of source wirings positioned on the main surface of the second substrate in such a manner as to intersect the plurality of gate wirings; a first insulating film positioned on the main surface of the second substrate in such a manner as to cover the plurality of gate wirings and the plurality of source wirings; a light-shielding film positioned on the first insulating film in such a manner as to cover the plurality of source wirings; a second insulating film positioned on the first insulating film in such a manner as to cover the plurality of gate wirings, the plurality of source wirings and the light-shielding film; signal electrodes disposed on the second insulating film; and a common electrode that is disposed on the second insulating film, and forms an electric field between the signal electrodes. The liquid crystal display device is further characterized in that: shield electrodes are positioned between the source wirings and the signal electrodes, which are positioned in a region surrounded by the plurality of gate wirings and the plurality of source wirings in a plan view, and are positioned between the first insulating film and the light-shielding film in a cross-sectional view; and a third insulating film is positioned between the shield electrodes and the light-shielding film.
