An information processing system according to the present invention comprises a portable wireless device and a wireless authentication device. The wireless authentication device further comprises: a first wireless communication means for transmitting an authentication information request and receiving authentication information; and an authentication means for executing, on the basis of the received authentication information, an authentication process of determining whether the portable wireless device is associated with the wireless authentication device. The portable wireless device further comprises a second wireless communication means for receiving the authentication information request and transmitting the authentication information. The authentication means is configured to execute the authentication process when one device of either the wireless authentication device or the portable wireless device is associated with either a transmission direction which is a direction for transmission of a piece of information, or a location direction which is a direction from the location of one device to the location of the other device, and the other device is associated with a receiving direction which is a direction for receiving the piece of information which is transmitted by the one device.
