The present invention is an indirect matrix converter that is capable of improving the precision of current detection. A converter (1) receives the input of an alternating-current voltage, converts the alternating-current voltage to a direct-current voltage, and impresses the direct-current voltage in between a power wire (LH) on the positive electrode side and a power wire (LL) on the negative electrode side. A snubber circuit (2) comprises a capacitor (C1), disposed between the power wires (LH, LL) and a diode (D1) that is connected in series with the capacitor (C1) between the power wires (LH, LL) and comprises an anode on the series path to the capacitor (C1) on the side of the power wire (LH) on the positive electrode side. An inverter (3) converts the direct-current voltage to an alternating-current voltage and impresses the voltage on an inductive load (8). An inverter-side current detection unit (4) detects current flowing along the power wire (LH) on the positive electrode side or current flowing along the power wire (LL) on the negative electrode side between the inverter (3) and the snubber circuit (2). |
