The present invention relates to a method for setting an icon password. A graphical password, which enables a user to set a plurality of secret icons and performs user authentication by checking the secret icons, may generally enable the user to connect the meanings of the icons constituting a password so as to create and memorize a phrase. However, if the number of icons available for setting the password is just sufficient for a layout of a graphical password such as 3*4, 4*4 and so on, the degree of freedom of the user to create the phrase such that the combination of the secret icons unique to the user is difficult is significantly limited. Therefore, a larger number of icons is preferable. However, if the number of icons is in the thousands or tens of thousands, the user must select icons from more than one or two pages, making it difficult to find a desired icon, and moreover, the user may not know what phrase to create. The present invention intends to propose a method for enabling a user to easily set his/her own secret icon from among a plurality of icons. The method of the present invention is configured such that one or more keywords are assigned to icons stored in a database, a user interface for setting icons enables the user to input a keyword and enables all of the icons matching the inputted keyword to be displayed on a screen as a search result, and if no icon matches the inputted keyword, icons corresponding to the initial letter of the input keyword may be displayed on the screen as a search result and the user may select one of the icons. Using the method of the present invention, users may very easily set secret icons to use graphical passwords using icons, and further, users may create more unique secret icons. |
