PURPOSE: An edge fault prediction apparatus for hot rolled coils is provided to reduce edge fault by predict the degree of edge fault generation in advance when boron added steel is casted through a thin slab continuous casting process. CONSTITUTION: An edge fault prediction apparatus for hot rolled coils comprises an input unit (140), a storage unit (130), a central processing unit (150), and a display unit (160). The storage unit receives and stores the size information which includes the long side, the short side, and the interval of a continuous casting mold casting a thin slab; and the information of the casting speed of molten steel which is casted. The central processing unit produces an edge fault prediction factor by using the size information of the mold which is stored in the storage unit which includes the width of the upper end of a mold, the width of the lower end of the mold, the vertical length, and the speed of casting; and predicts the edge fault of the hot rolled coil which is casted by using the edge fault prediction factor.
