<p>PURPOSE: A sheet feeding apparatus and an image forming apparatus are provided to improve space utilization and reduce the costs by not requiring a sensor. CONSTITUTION: A sheet feeding apparatus (2) comprises a support member, a drive unit, a feeding unit, first and second sensing units, and a loading quantity determination unit. The support member supports a sheet and rotates in a sheet feeding direction. The drive unit rotates the support member. The feeding unit feeds the sheet. The first sensing unit senses the sheet on the support member at a first sensing position above the support member. The second sensing unit senses the sheet on the support member at a second sensing position below the first sensing position. When the support member is rotated by the drive unit, the loading quantity determination unit determines the quantity of the sheets loaded on the support member based on the sensed results from the first and second sensing units.</p> |
