PURPOSE: A method for forming an image by using an inkjet method is provided to form a colorful image with a wide color gamut rapidly by inhibiting the color gamut of the colorful image from shrinking when the impact intervals of different kinds of ink are short. CONSTITUTION: A method for forming an image by using an inkjet method comprises the process for giving treatment liquid and the process for giving ink. In the process of giving treatment liquid, a recording medium is given treatment liquid containing a coalescing component for coalescing a component in an ink composition to form an image. The process for giving ink comprises the steps of: giving a first ink composition containing pigment, water, and 1.0 mass% to 3.0 mass% of polymer particles with respect to the total composition, to the recording medium with the treatment liquid by using an inkjet method; and giving on the first ink composition a second ink composition which has a color different with the first ink composition and contains pigment and water, by using an inkjet method to form a colorful image so that the interval between the impact time of the first ink composition and the impact time of the second ink composition is within 200 msec and the impact velocity of drops is 6 m/sec to 10 m/sec.
