PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for disposing waste gas are provided to satisfy regulation requirements for discharging nitrogen dioxides from a ship and to utilize waste heat from the ship. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for disposing waste gas includes an exhaust line (110), a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) (130), an economizer (140), a bypass pipe, and path converting parts (120,122). The waste gas from an engine is discharged to outside the apparatus. The SCR at the exhaust line disposes nitrogen oxides in the waste gas. The economizer at the exhaust line utilizes waste heat in the exhaust gas. The bypass pipe is installed on the exhaust line. The path converting part is installed at a position in which the bypass pipe meets the exhaust line.
